John's Plumbing Heating and Cooling
Read About Brad Vines' Journey
Brad has been in the field of plumbing for his entire life and began learning about the business when his father started John's Plumbing Heating and Cooling in 1984. He devoted his time to the business on every weekend and during every summer break. His parents encouraged him to enjoy his work, which led him to start flying lessons at age 17.
After finishing high school, Brad enrolled at Auburn University, where he earned a degree in aviation management with a professional flight concentration. During his studies, he obtained his commercial pilot certificate, instrument rating, and multi-engine rating, preparing for an aviation career.
In January 2003, Brad's father passed away unexpectedly, and then, he decided to work for John's Plumbing Heating and Cooling instead of an aviation career. He didn't want his father's hard work to be in the hands of the highest bidder. So, he purchased the business from his father's estate in a few years and hasn't looked back since then. He learned about the hardships and successes of a company and believes that the hard times have taught him to appreciate the good times as well.
When asked if he ever misses the excitement of flying, Brad admits that he does, usually only when he sees an airport or hears an aircraft overhead. Today, he holds certifications as a Master Plumber, Master Gas Fitter, and Alabama General Contractor. He also earned his TREEO backflow certification through the University of Florida. Additionally, Brad has completed specialized training for Lochinvar boilers, Navien and Noritz tankless water heaters, and Leonard mixing valves.
Brad is married to Brandi Vines, and they have two children, Cameron, 6, and Hudson, 3. They live in Clay, Alabama, and are members of the North Clay Baptist Church. His hobbies include riding dirt bikes and water skiing.
